You can meet all kinds of people on the Internet, including your father - even if he is an anonymous sperm donor. Even if you are a [clever and resourceful] 15-year-old.
Makes you ponder the extent to which we will be affected by online genetic databases.

I've started writing again.
But it's pretty much all about television shows. Check it out here and give me some more hits so that I can attract advertisers and begin to make some dollars.
Secrets of Area 51...
...revealed.
Apparently the folks who worked there are allowed to talk now? It's pretty much what you'd expect: they still aren't saying anything about aliens. There is a funny story involving test pilots and a gorilla mask, though.

2 nukes weren't enough
So apparently anime is a prime example of why 2 nukes weren't enough. Ouch, Mr. Representative, ouch. As an anime fan i take offense. Maybe a little more than an "official reprimand" is in order...

starcraft 2
So the University of Rochester runs an annual convention call SimCon for board and roleplaying games, and anime. That was this weekend, and during it the computer science students also put together a LAN party and starcraft tournament. I didn't play in the tournament, I haven't played SC in years, but I went and watched a few rounds which was fun. They had a starcraft 2 beta key up as the top prize! Also they had two beta counts playing head to head for people not in the tournament, so I got to play a few rounds of the starcraft 2 beta. The game is apparently a beta by blizzards standards, but by anyone else's it's exquisite. Anyone else excited for this game?

space 1889
I've been reading "Iron Council" by China Mieville which is modern and pretty fun steam punk, with some fantasy elements. I think so far my favorite bits have been the creatures, humans or animals augmented with iron and steam and clockwork, even other parts of animals. Anyway, it got me reading about steampunk in general and I bumped into a setting that I need to try. It's a role playing game called space 1889. Reading some reviews, apparently the rules of the game leave a little to be desired, but how cool is an ether propeller?

This too shall pass redux
OK Go seriously has too much fun with their music videos. Also, the NPR story on their departure from EMI because of this video.
